Introduction
Have you ever dreamt of being a great artist? Do you often wonder what it would be like to see your masterpieces displayed in world famous galleries? In the game Art for Sale you are that aspiring artist who embarks on a career of creating and selling artworks. During the game you will try to increase your reputation by selling your artworks at better and better establishments while experimenting with different artistic media. You will also be confronted with the everyday troubles that artists face and will be able to compete in challenges for fame and fortune.

Here are a few hints to help you on your way to becoming a successful artist
Small beginnings:
In
the beginning,
your reputation and the amount of money let you access only a limited amount of
equipment and places. You are able to sell only at the Flea Market and the shop
owner will only sell pencils and charcoal for you to use. The number of
challenges you can access is also restricted. Only by selling your artworks will
your reputation increase. There is however one advantage during this part of the
game: no one wants to steal your art. This will however change as you become a
more reputable artist.
Growing
as an artist:
Once your reputation is high enough you can start to exhibit your creations at galleries. An important thing to remember is that you need to submit your artworks at least one day before the scheduled exhibition day. This gives the staff of the gallery time to hang your paintings as well as to clean the place. As the flea market is not cleaned and your paintings are quickly hanged on flea market day, submitting and exhibiting your pictures can only be done on the day.
Your skill may also improve with the challenges and you might even win some trophies or money. Buy a trophy rack to display the trophies you have won (you can click on a trophy to see exactly why you won it).
A great artist:
At some stage you will achieve greatness as an artist will be able to exhibit internationally, buy any equipment and compete in all challenges. Please note that even at this stage it is inadvisable to mix different media when creating a work of art. Doing so will reduce the value of the artwork to close to 0 and most patrons will offer you nothing more.
Once
you are at the top of your game you should keep an eye out for a visit from a
VIP if you are exhibiting at the International gallery. You will also be awarded
trophies for making lots of money and selling many paintings.
As a great artist you can probably afford some of the luxuries available to people with extra money. This include a fire extinguisher to eliminate all fires, a burglar alarm that will stop the thief from stealing your paintings and a telephone, to notify you when an event is about to start. You might of course feel that some of these items are essential from very early on in the game to help you achieve success and procure them early on.
Other:
During the game the Info Bar can be opened to see your reputation, the amount of money available, the number of paintings you have created and the time of day. In addition you can also access the Stock Window to see the amount of equipment you have left. These tools may help you to effectively navigate your way as an artist.
Once you are experienced enough you will be able to access oil paint and accessories from the shop. You will be able to mix the 3 primary colours to obtain any colour that can be seen by the human eye. Remember that mixing colours using light (as is simulated by the screen) are different from mixing real paint.
If you created some amazing pictures you might want to look at them again in the future. You can access them in the 'picture' folder within the main folder of the game. Remember however not to remove them (you can however make copies of them elsewhere). If there is a demand for this I might even create a Art for Sale picture viewer.
To run the game download the file by clicking on the download button. Extract* the compressed file anywhere that you want the game. Click on the file 'Art for Sale.exe' in the main Art for Sale folder to run the game. No installation required.
